UNFCCC - United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change
Annex I parties - developed countries (roughly speaking)
CDM - Clean Development Mechanism (the scheme by which countries can get credits against their own emissions quotas by paying for emission reduction schemes in developing countries)
COP - Conference of the Parties - the meetings of the UNFCCC (Copenhagen was a COP)
LDCs - less developed countries
GHG - greenhouse gases (that was easy)
NOx - collective term for various oxides of nitrogen
SOx - ditto for sulfur
