I always used to weight my pack with water when training. I used about 3L of battles padded out with an old synthetic sleeping bag. Never get thirsty also if it all gets too mush you can easaly dump the water.

Yes good plan - that's actually what I did. I just didn't drink any of it! Just out of interest what is your MM water strategy - never get thirsty or train yourself to be camel-like? I personally don't carry any water with me on an MM but sometimes it can be 1-2 hours in between streams giving the chance for dehydration to set in.

Can't believe no-one has made a cider reference on this thread yet.

Never normaly carried anything. But had a 2 pint plastic milk bottle which normaly the faster person would fill at the bottom of a climb. Then drink and eat up the climb befor dumping exces water. If it was very dry which was only realy when I raced in Switzeland and Spain then the bottle would be filled if a long stretch with no water looked to be comming up. Racing Sole I would just have a cup on a bit of string.
