Not the route I would have chosen, although I don't do 2 hour runs. The SAS puts flags and signs out when they close the section between Swanbourne and City Beach, so you could probably have gone through along the beach. If you didn't hear gunfire it would have been safe, but you are usually either in soft sand or on a side slope next to the water and trying to avoid wave surges.

The number of cyclists down the coast road increases exponentially on Saturday mornings.

Next time you go to Bold Park, ask us for a contour only map and try to draw your route on it afterwards.

Main problem with running the beach was that it was still dark. Not surprised it's even more of a cycling mecca on weekends (although the headwinds in the summer must be a challenge for anyone who sleeps in too late).

Oh no, the earlier you go the stronger the south-easterly! It's a very fine line finding the teeny-tiny window between the SE and the onslaught of the sou-wester.
