Don't beat yourself up too much. I totally agree you're in better shape that the time indicates. And it's a bugger after such great preparation. But 2:49 is still bloody good. And look at Kibet, Wanjiru, Tadese ... the wheels can fall off for even the best
Sounds as though you might not have been feeling right in the last few days - not much you can do about that and it will have made a big difference. Seems like you did everything right but just got unlucky. Don't beat yourself about it too much, you'll be back for more!
A real shame all your training didn't come to fruition the way you wanted it to, but at least you now know why you felt so crap out there. Come back stronger for the next one! 2:49 is still a very impressive run. Well done.
