I really hate the whole "I have to beat this cyclist to the roundabout" attitude. In 90% of cases I go through roundabouts faster than cars but for some reason they just have to be there first. Hope there's no damage (to you).

I think I said to Dalto "I feel like I've been hit by a truck this morning." He had to take it one step further. Later in the ride apparently Unit's rear skewer snapped - ending in a long walk home to Subi.

I've had problems with "I have to beat this cyclist to the left turn that the cyclist is not taking" situation before - there seems to be a point of no return (for the driver) where even when they are clearly going to f*ck it up they persist.

The other day in good old Forrie I had a woman intentionally zoom ahead of me to a roundabout with her left indicator on, then she sat and waited and motioned for me to go first as if she was being generous. I'd practically stopped by this point to let her and her leadfoot go ahead.

In our cycle touring in France we have found that drivers are great they sit back on single lane roads and give you space everywhere, never hassle you on the horn, give you the bird But ...

Roundabouts bring the worst out of them - they have to get through as quickly as possible and get out of the roundabout as quick as possible so watch out on the bike they will cut you off and do crazy stuff.

Must be circles drive drivers mad any psychologists out there?

Roundabouts are one of the only places where I'll take up the entire lane. Get in early and stop the cars behind me from doing anything stupid...other than ram me in the back wheel I guess, but it hasn't happened yet. :)

All of my scary car moments commuting from Swan View have been at the Meadow St roundabout in Guildford, it brings out the stupid in people.

Turning right at a two lane roundabout is fraught with accident possibilities when biking - usually I adopt the Juffy technique and hog the entire right hand lane. The only problem is in heavy traffic when you can't actually get to the right-hand lane. It then becomes a longer ride home as I am compelled to go straight.

Trucks are also fun - I have been squeezed out by a semi the last two weeks turning right onto the Fremantle Bridge at North Freo - hang back is the only solution in those cases!
