I think it is a risky step by the IOF since many Eastern European countries will only be able to send a few runners. However, it is nice that the IOF recognizes the fact the non-European countries (namely Japan, HK, NZ, Australia and the US and Canada) face this kind of thing every year.

It is nice though to keep all the big races in Europe as it makes it possible for those of us who have to travel a long distance to get the most events out of each trip. Since WOC is in Japan this year, I won't even bother trying to qualify since it would mean skipping JWOC and all the other great events in Europe that I can put into one trip. Likewise, most Juniors won't be able to attend any of the great races in Europe that year.

JWOC in Australia should be a lot of fun though, since we all know the Aussies know how to throw a party. And from what I have read about past events in Australia, I am sure it will be a great venue.
