Update from the US team in Lithuania, after the first day of competetion. We raced the sprint in the afternoon and is seems as though the results have already been viewed by our ardent fans, but since the last thread was so ridiculously long, I thought I would start another....

US team did very well, with some stellar performances by the first time runners Erin Schirm, Mike Sandstrom, and Andy Strat. John Fredrickson, who is hardly a first timer, also had an excellent run with no mistakes. He remarked that the course was technically very easy, and very much a runners dream. Robbie Paddock had a good run, though would have liked to have featured higher in the results and Marty Hawkes-Teeter finished a race which he described as okay. Look for his results tomorrow for the classic, which is his preferred race.

On the women's side, the US team and the Canadian team fared about equally. Carol Ross had a bit of a lead on Anna Shafer-Skelton and Siobhan Fleming proved that intensive knee surgery can't hold her back from having excellent races. Franchesca Worsham also had a stellar debut with a clean race.

Outside of the races, US has also been dominating the competition. Our juniors cheered louder and had more team spirit at the opening ceremonies than any other team present, bar none. Tomorrow the classic, 12.5 k for men and 8.6 k for women. All of the kiddies are up in bed because we have a long race and a long bus ride. The team leader will have to sign off now too, because he foolishly will be on the 6:40am bus in the morning.

Thanks for the update Ross. It's nice to hear how the runners felt about their races. Looking forward to checking tomorrow's results.

Yes, thank you Ross for keeping us in the know about the team. It was nice being off today so that I could check the results early in the day. I hope that Siohban luggage has arrived and that all is well on that front. I also hope that the uniforms will arrive as expected for all of you. Best of luck tomorrow. Will be looking at the results early again. Keep up the good work

GO USA!
