A runner who put all his heart into his love for running/racing/coaching, a heart that "gave out" unexpectedly a few weeks ago. Interesting story, certainly exquisite cardiovascular fitness, no guarantees, no moral to the story, except, perhaps, carpe diem.

Maybe one can't outrun one's genes. Jim Fixx, author made famous by "The Complete Book of Running", could not & died at 52.

Only briefly met and raced against him as he lived in this area, an amazing runner, but lived a tough life I think.

Jim Fixx's dad died in his early 40's so maybe the running gave him a few extra years.
