This may not be the right forum to ask this question, but I'll ask it anyway.

What are The maps/terrains to visit in central Sweden and Norway?

We are planning our journey to Nordvestgaloppen. Stockholm - Stryn (NVG) - Bergen - Linköping (43-kavlen) - Stockholm.
We have some extra days, so which way we should drive and what maps we should visit? Any ideas?

Driving across Sweden from Norway, you could visit Karlstad in Värmland. I went to the O-Ringen 5-day event one year on five excellent maps around Karlstad. Contact Kils OK for maps <http://www.kilsok.com/>.
Alternatively, once you get to Stockholm, go to the huge park east of the city at Hellasgården (take the #401 bus from Slussen directly to Hellasgården). Excellent 1:10 000 orienteering maps are sold at the refreshment stand there. And look for various permanent courses that may be set up by the local clubs on that map. When I was last there, they had 66 permanent controls set up on that map. Excellent Swedish terrain for miles and miles.

Some ideas:

Do some tourist visiting in Stockholm while carrying the Stockholm City Cup maps of Djurgarden and Gamla Stan.

Head up to Uppsala for visits to Lunsen and Kung Bjorns Hojd. Lunsen is a fantastic area. KBH is a strange little map drawn at 1:1500 -- it is really interesting to run around on.

Stop at the WOC maps near Vasteras. Get a copy of Tero's analysis of his gold run in the middle distance. Study Tero's routes and thinking, then run the course.

H43 Kavlen is in Finspang which is quite near Kolmarden terrain. I don't know the names of any specific maps, but Kolmarden has lots of nice terrain.

Wow, wish I knew about that stuff when I was in Sweden for my honeymoon and the WOC in 2004. We got to run on maps around Vasteras. The forests were definately "enchanted" looking, absolutely beautiful. We were pretty busy but we would have had some time to orienteer while in Stockholm. Jagge, hope you enjoy your trip, it sounds wonderful. I hope to get to Bergen someday, have some ancestrial history there.

In case somebody likes to take a look, here is some data of our 2 week trip around Scandinavia plus some events and trainings home before and after the trip.

There is 5 races (Nordvestgaloppen and 43-kavlen), 3 local events in Finland, 9 other trainings. All tracked with GPS, and you can view routes and animations with RG.
