We used to ride this a lot before we started orienteering. There is one nasty pinch in the vicinity of the Blackburn to Springvale road section otherwise your route is pretty much nice and flat (so not sure how much standing on pedals was needed although, on the other hand, its better to do this than push too much when knees not "bike fit" as you can damage them easily [from my biking not running experience] pushing too hard or in too high a gear).
Weird tail and headwinds on that path that rarely seem to match the actual wind direction - I've always suspected due to the freeway noise barriers etc?

After Springvale Road the new sections along the Mullum section are "interesting". A big coast down from Park road to the tunnel entrance then infernal twist, turns and sharp rises all through the Mullum creek section to Ringwood. Then straight and fast downhill from Ringwood to Wantina.
