Reading you guys' logs definitely makes it look like a good place to train to me! (Then I was about to ask you if there were any good grad programs in art or neuroscience in New Haven, but good thing I looked online before I made a fool of myself:))
Ooh, are you tempted? Would be awesome to have you in town! And yes, there are good maps nearby and, hopefully, soon we will have more of a critical mass of orienteers in town.
Boris, If you build it they will come. As you know having lived in Uppsala that this is the model that needs to be followed in North America. It is likely what made the current CSU gang so successful (although they have scattered away from Boston). I've argued for training centres in Canada for a long time and I know that those that have trained in Vancouver and Hamilton have benefited greatly. Not all training needs to be on maps though. Set a nice 5-6K terrain run and run it every 2-3 weeks. Hey, Yale is even has a job ad for the area of research I do at the moment. ;-)
Well, I think we need 2-3 more people to get some critical mass, but I'd love to see it happen.
Being tempted doesn't mean I could get into the school, but I'm working extra hard on one of my papers right now! But I guess grad school is still quite a ways off.
Well, I'm coming to visit in a month or so, which I very much hope is going to lead to an extra one!
