I'm curious: would others consider the ability to add comments to other people's training diaries (making Attackpoint even more like a blogging site than it is already) useful? Of course the original person should be able to turn this feature off if they don't want comments. But i think of my diary as almost a training blog, and so i'd quite like others to have an easy way of commenting - maybe then I'd do more training and write more about it...
(There are practical issues like deterring spambots that blogging sites have to deal with, but even if Attackpoint became important enough to attract their attention (Kenny, have we had any spambots try to register ever?) I don't think the problems are insuperable; for example, you could insist on someone having been registered a week before being allowed to post).

Of course, this is a wishlist item subject to Kenny's time and interest...

I would certainly be interested to find out if people were reading my training and what their thoughts were...but would you be able to select who could comment or would it be all or nothing?

I think it would be useful. this is already on the "planned and coming soon" list, which is a few steps closer to reality than the "wish" list.

That would be so cool! Then folks could post comments to other people's training like: "you are blowing so much smoke," or "my tangerine are oranger than yours." Every day that goes by without NHL slugfests is a step closer to heaven, and this would be two steps closer.

Sounds like a good idea. I wonder where and how the line between ephemeral comments on someone's training and a permanent discussion thread relating to someone's training would be drawn. Ideally, we'd be able to escalate smoothly from one to the other but I can see that perhaps complicating the implementation.

BTW, I presume there would be an indication on the training page of how many comments each training plan had attracted in the last week. I'd hate to miss something interesting just because I don't routinely peruse a particular person's training.

I was just missing such a feature today as I read Tom Carr's log wondering if anyone read his logs. I wanted to say yes I did. Also wanted to ask how he got 55 minutes of exercise running a 5k in under 18 minutes. I need that type of exercise that is worth 3 times longer than it takes to do it. Most of mine is the other way, 3 hours spent to get 1 hour posted.

Ok Mr. Smarty.... 15 min easy warm-up, 7 min of strides and such, 18 min race, 15 min warm down. I just didn't break it down by intensity. I'm starting to think the ability to post comments won't be such a good thing.

Just kidding, Tim! :-)

Sorry for adding something already on the planned list / wishlist back to the wishlist... guess I should read the Beta page more carefully. But apparently there's a groundswell of interest.

In eager anticipation for this change, let me put in a plug right now for my 2005 training...

Are you ready for the hottest training yet? You won't want to miss a minute of this never-before-seen footage! You'll never guess the celebrity stars that get in on the action, and the finale will leave you breathless!

(I assume Attackpoints will be awarded for training log comments... :-)
