Last week I sent out an announcment via clubnet and boardnet regarding a National Teams discussion that will be held at the Vasquez Rocks "A" meet in December. The objective of this discussion is to look for common ground and opportunities among all of our national teams programs.

First of all, thanks to all of those who have responded positively to my invitation for Vasquez Rocks. I look forward to seeing you there.

Second, thanks to you who have suggested that we hold similar conversations this fall in the east and midwest. In response to your request, I will set up similar dialogues at the following events:

Rochester "A" meet - Rochester, NY - Saturday, September 19 - during the ice cream social

Boulder Dash "A" meet - New Hampshire - Saturday, October 3 - during the pasta dinner

US Champs/ Badger 3 day - Wisconsin - Saturday, October 24 - during the banquet

Vasquez Rocks - California - Saturday, December 5 - time TBD

In all cases, I have scheudled this in conjunction with the social part of that weekend's events. This has been not to overschedule any of us. (Plus it gives me a chance to actually participate in the event). Please note that I am not able to pay for your meal. Sorry about that.

If you know you will be able to attend one, or more, of the sessions please email me at glen_schorr@usorienteer.org

Sincerely,
Glen

I think they'll have it contained before December. And that strikes me as a map that would not be particularly affected if the fire burns it up.

I like the aspect of that map with the horsy people.

I'm optimistic that the fire won't cross the 14 freeway. The southern portion of Vasquez Rocks burned a few years ago, so there's not much there to burn anyway. But when it did, they wouldn't let us back onto it until the next spring when it revegetated, so if the park does burn, we may have to cancel the meet.

That would be a major bummer.

As a professional cartographer, I must say, I *loooove* the big obnoxious icons. (Not so much.)
