I'm going to buy O-boka 2004:

http://www.o-boka.no/

For those who are Norwegian-challenged, this is a book published by Norway's only full-time orienteering journalist. It contains maps with route choices, articles etc.

There is also a Swedish version which also has more Finnish content such as Jukola.

I'm trying to organize a shipment of these - possibly with some discounts. If anyone is interested let me know.

Hm... the abovementioned discount was a misunderstanding on my side. They have a drawing every day for a free book, so there's a chance that the book will be free.

Count me among the Norwegian-challenged. I get the impression this will be something along the lines of "the year in elite orienteering", i.e. a lot of reportage and I'm not sure how much technical info that would benefit us mortals beyond the route choices. I might spring for a copy (and a bilingual dictionary) if it's going to include significant amounts of race analysis, interviews with competitors discussing their runs or training in general or other interesting technical articles. Can you say anything more about the contents?

I'm trying to find out how many pages there are and how many of them have actual maps. I'll let you know as soon as I get any numbers...

The books are 183-184 pages - A4 / hardcover. There are 40 maps in the Swedish book and 50 in the Norwegian. The books cover major events for all age groups, from Hovedløpet to the MWOC. There is coverage of Jukola, Tiomila, national and international championships. And there is some ski-o as well.

Maybe we should start a Scandinavian translation thread. :)
