We must have been near each other in the '84 City to Surf. I can still clearly remember watching that helicopter falling out of the sky next to us.
I can also remember the impressive video footage from said helicopter on the evening news. Shame there was no YouTube in those days.

Sounds about right. It was pretty well right next to Dad who was a bit ahead of me at that stage (although not at the finish :-)
