The web page for the US Sprint and Ultra Long championships, hosted by ROC, is now available at the following address:

http://www.frontiernet.net/~mclyons/A-Meet2009/

The registration link is active; however, we are not yet set up for electronic payment. The early registration period extends until August 31, 2009, so you may register now (and send a check), or hold off for a bit (when we will have a PayPal or Google Checkout option).

More event details will be added over time.

"Nate Lyons may have to skip a Cross Country meet to compete in the Sprint Championships."

Hopefully, his coach will let this one slide. ;-)

I have updated the web site with the preliminary distances for the Ultra Long - see the "Meet Notes" page. We are using the guidelines that have been approved, but not documented in the USOF rules yet. It calls for winning times of 140-180 min on Blue and 120-150 min for F-21+ on Red.

Incidentally, Google Checkout appears to be working. Can those that pay by Google sign the waiver at the meet, or does it need to be mailed?

Yey for the Google Checkout! Good question feet!

We will have waivers ready for signature at registration, for those who use Google Checkout.

[edit] Also, being at Xerox, I would accept a signed waiver that is scanned and e-mailed, especially if you use SMARTsend.

So, I also updated the web site to include a note about waivers being signed at Meet Registration for those using electronic payment. And I've also added a link on the Registration page to the page that shows who has signed up, so far.

What is SMARTsend?

Correction to my post. I just saw the distances posted on the meet site, and think the winning times will be more in line with the 50% longer... Good!

FYI--the website, or at least the link column on the left, doesn't seem to work in IE8. One solution is to use another browser, or you can go to individual pages, like registration, directly.

That's funny, because looking at the html source, it looks like it was made with a Microsoft product...

Yes, it was created with MS Publisher. I only have IE7, so I haven't tested with IE8, but I did have someone else mention that it failed. I am going to add some links in the main body tonight.

Did I mention that I often hate MS?

I just tried to register online, and the system correctly tried to charge me the $15 "other national federation member" fee for the sprint, but it incorrectly tried to charge the $23 non-member fee for the two longer events. Is it easy to fix this before the early registration deadline, or is it easier for me to lie to the system and tell it that I'm a USOF member instead of a COF member? (Which I'm assuming is the problem, since no one else has mentioned it.)

It charges $23, but backs out the $3 discount in the total that it reports when you finish registration.

It's actually the Sprint that is in error. I think I fixed that now.

If I remember correctly, you also need to enter something in the Federation number field or I don't think the discount will be applied.

Thanks for the help! I had tried Valerie's idea last night too. We don't have COF membership numbers, so I'm not *really* member #1 in Canada!
