Discussion: Grant Abusing Attackpoint

in: Orienteering; General

Jules:
There are rumours circulating that 'Grant' is purely using attackpoint for comment purposes only and not contributing to the overall aim of attackpoint to train-log-review-motivate. Missing the crucial part of logging his training. Is this allowed?

you know, if i was the moderator of this list, i would ban recalcitrant users like grant blutt

Yeah and his claim of no-training is a crock, Miss Jones regularly mentions the runs they do together.

Making analogy to federal vs. state government in the US, I believe that this is a local issue. I don't think the federal AP authorities have jurisdiction over the posting or non-posting of training by individual users. However, those local to said users are free to pummel, accost and generally abuse their local chums for any reason they see fit. At least that's how I interpret the by-laws.

(I hope that the above claim doesn't cause the AP authorities to start monitoring my correspondences.)

All I know is that, given (The) Swampfox is still at large, the AP authorities must grant a great deal of lattitude. We seem rather libertarian around here.

Translation: you have to catch Grant and beat him up yourselves, you lazy Cockatoos... if you can.

Attack Point has a long and rich tradition of abuse--so why shouldn't some of the converts from down under join in?

Just think of some of the recent scandals we've seen here, such as the staging of a bear den raid, replete with photographic "documentation" of the supposed cubs (actually stuffed teddy bears you can find at any Target store). Not to mention the already vast and ever expanding innuendo and rumors about the ongoing activities of Greg Balter's import-export business, which everyone *knows* is one of the leading, if not the main, cause of this country's burgeoning and out of control trade deficit.
May 12, 2006 3:41 PM #
j-man:
I'm not sure about the latter. Typically, one expects current account and capital account activity to offset one another (broadly). In Balter's case, this linkage seems non-existent.

Speaking of imports and exports, isn't Greg due to be married soon? Seems like the rumours have been flying for years.
May 12, 2006 3:45 PM #

Is that an import or an export?

The levels of geekiness in the US section of Attackpoint do appear to be orders of magnitude higher than in Australia, though. (not '..., but.')

Maybe we could consider his business foreign aid. It's not FDI as far as I can tell.

First, give Grant some slack, all mighty Swampwox was doing it for years. Starting to log in training on AP is a big step :-). Second, rumors will be rumors, until the fat lady sings, for now - my fiancée has a visa to enter the country in the next six month, and, knowing her it will be the last day before visa expires, and I can not blame her, knowing myself and my bad habits of getting lost in the woods on weekends

Both Grant and AceJase should put up or shut up, in Grant's case I suspect he likes telling everyone that he doesn't do any training too much to post conflicting evidence.

hoggster:
yeah, and what's jase's excuse??????

well I have cracked under the sledging pressure from Hoggster, Candyman and Miss Jones and entered my diary.

Hi Jules,

Do you remember me sending the email (copied at the bottom of this posting) on the 9th of March? I'm glad you joined up, but its never been part of the deal that I would start training just so I can see what training you are doing?

And anyway I’m following the same line as your partner, “how am I going to be able to do secret training if I have to put it up on Attackpoint”?

I still can’t say that my exercising qualifies as training anyway. When I go for a run by myself its under 30min (25min from home to work) and as Hoggster says that doesn’t qualify as training. When I run with someone else I would call it socialising. When I am putting out controls or at any orienteering training its working!

Nice to see so many people care what a washed up orienteer is up to. I’m touched.

Hi Guys,

I have been looking at Rob's training log on http://www.attackpoint.org/ a bit lately. Its good stuff. I reckon it would be great if some of you guys started using it, Rob says its good motivation?? and for me its a great way to be able to check up what your doing?

Have a look at and see what you think? lauenstien is also on there, swisscheese is him if you are looking.

Your the famous one John Fredrikson, I had a student by the same name when I worked in Sweden (I’m sure you have worked out there is two of you?). Him and his mates used to always talk about your finish shoot spits at O-ringen!
May 17, 2006 1:49 AM #
jfredrickson:
Yup, we finally met at JWOC this year after seeing each other in the results list at Oringen. It's been a while since I have beat him on more than the finish split though.

By the way, I spell my name "Fredrickson", not that mixed up Swedish piffle.

Like Fransson.

Now that everyone is into spelling...

I remember the 'Swedish piffle' that constitutes my name being 'aussified' in a startlist a long time ago (Tasmania 1988) into Plom-Leif Aker...?! I don´t know if that is better really.
