nup, they go beyond Broome. The round Australia pensioners seem to go anti-clockwise though so it seems to be worse heading west out of Fitzroy.

They settle in places like Kunnanurra and tour, then leave in late August. I think they are a lesser evil than the weather at other times of year.

So at least when you're heading south towards Brisbane on the Bruce highway they will be going in the opposite direction. Well, half of them will. The other half will be in front of you.

Yeah - give Gero a few years Blair. It's only a couple of years since the railway came up and they've remodelled the foreshore. It'll be a few more before they turn the shops around to face the view. (The rear end of the backpackers is particularly attractive) I'm surprised you couldn't find a coffee. If I'd known that was so important I could have recommended a couple of places (Bella Vista at the south end of the mall is the nicest)

Er...

...no, actually I'll leave that one alone. Too easy.

Why would a series of shops along a beach be considered good planning?

backpackers' hostel if that really needed any clarification...

There's a nice grassy strip with beach shelters, playground etc between the beach and the road, with the shops on the other side. (where the railway used to be)

I think there are two separate tribes of migrating caravans - the round-Australia ones and those migrating seasonally from southern WA to northern WA and back. At the moment I'm seeing more of the latter (probably 3/4 have WA plates). I'm guessing that a lot of these don't go past Broome, and I won't see much of the ones who do because they'll (mostly) be on the bitumen and I won't be. (The caravan park at Kalbarri was packed, by the way).
