shalalajko: Hi everyone. I'm working on my final work at university and i'm searching for anything that is newer (after 2000) and the topic is conditioning in orienteering, or has data about physiological aspect of orienteering or body response to orienteering efforts.
I have read all scientific journal of orienteering. Orienteering - training and coaching (British Orienteering federation, 1982) and couple of articles i found at internet.
Maybe this thread can be one where we can list all the books we use and have in our libraries on the topic of orienteering.
Thank you in advance.

Rx: None of these were intended for a scientific audience, and they are all in Finnish, but...
1. Savolainen Varpu, Lakanen Jani, Hernelahti Miika published a book this year in Finnish called "Suunnistus - metsästä elämyksiä" (something like "Orienteering - powerful/profound experiences from the forest"...not really sure how to translate elämyksiä). It seems fairly comprehensive, with nice maps, although I have only flippped through it in a book store so far.
2. There was a series of short articles by Janne Salmi last year about training, again in Finnish, in the Suunnistaja magazine.
3. Another short, light-hearted series is published this year in the same magazine by "Lammikko" (if remember his real name is Mikko Eskola). It can be found on-line (together with a short article by Jani Lakanen) at http://www.suomenvalmentajat.fi/materiaalisalkku/l...

shalalajko: Thanks.
I should definitely start to learn Finnish or some other Scandinavian language if i really want to read about orienteering.
I have found some articles/power point presentation from Jane Salmi in english but that is all from scandinavians. Also find some interesting things at british o site/support...

simmo: Scientific Journal of Orienteering:

I'm pretty sure earlier issues were digitised, but I can't find them. There'd be lots of articles about physical training in them.
Also this
http://www.omotivo.com.au/shop/index.php?act=viewP...
is available in Australia, the author also frequently publishes articles about training in the Australian Orienteer.
