If you are in the area and not tired of all the racing in past 8 weeks come and run one of the most fun terrain available in New England.

We offer following courses:
Yellow - white (beginner level) - 2.5 km, 11 controls;
Orange (intermediate level) - 4.4 km 12 controls;
Green (advanced) - 5.4 km, 10 controls;
Red (advanced) - 6.8 km, 13 controls.
Advanced courses emphasize classic orienteering with route choice options.

For desert we offer a forest sprint course in the most technical part of the park: 2.5 km, 14 controls.
All courses utilize electronic punching system Sport Ident (SI).
The starts will be open from 10 AM until 1 PM. Controls will be collected after 3 PM.

And then the next day you can run again at Mt Tom on the edited version of the A meet courses!

Joe:
what exactly does "edited version" mean? If I am going to drive 1.5 hours I want to run a new course not just an old course backwards.
May 21, 2009 12:01 PM #
PG:
My understanding was new courses, just based on the universe of all the control sites from the A meet weekend, since they had been vetted and found to be suitable. I would think it would be possible to make something quite different from what we ran that weekend.

coach:
Edited is as PG has said, new courses using the A meet control sites. In some cases a leg may be very simaliar, in others a leg run the opposite direction, but mostly a re configured connecting of the "dots".
For instance on the Red, one leg is the same, but run opposite direction, one control site the same, all other control sites are different.
I hope to get the courses and lengths into the A. event listing.

Joe:
thanks. looks like I will miss it. not because of the format, but something came up.

Using Day 1, Day 2 , or a mixture of control sites?
May 21, 2009 8:03 PM #
j-man:
Are you going Guy?
May 22, 2009 4:18 AM #
GuyO:
Sat: No -- helping with a benefit wiffleball tournament.
Sun: Doubtful -- long way to go for one day of O, and nothing else.
May 22, 2009 6:22 PM #
j-man:
You should go. After all, you seem to have a healthy interest in the course setting details.
May 22, 2009 8:38 PM #
GuyO:
Not 5 hours driving worth of interest.

Wish I'd been able to be there. Coincidentally ran home w/ an Ansonia map last night.

Was very disappointed not to make it as well. Just couldn't find anyone else to take my daughter to riding lesson. Next year she should be driving herself. Have never run at Ansonia, and map (courtesy of PG) looked like a lot of fun.

Nice meet, great course - I enjoyed it a lot. Thanks.

I will echo the "great course" statement (I did Green). I have to work out what's the matter with my map reading in the area of Green # 2, though. I've been stumped there twice now...

Thanks to all that helped organize!

Had fun on Green solo and then White/Yellow with kids!
