Suzanne:
At the end of this school year, I'm leaving Maine which means that there is a position open for a math teacher at the Maine Coast Semester. While this forum isn't really meant for this purpose, there are lots of orienteers who like math so I thought it wouldn't be a bad place to post the opening.

It's not the best place for orienteering, but the school and housing are located on a 400-acre peninsula with trails and woods and are connected to another property with another several miles of trails. The Maine Coast Semester offers a small number of high school juniors the chance to live, work, and study on this peninsula with the goal of exploring the interrelationship between people and the natural world through challenging courses in natural science, environmental issues, ethics, art, history, mathematics, languages, literature and writing. A wilderness trip, weekly science field trips, work on the organic farm, a two night solo, and daily life in cabins also contribute to the students' experience. Since kids choose to be here they tend to be enjoy embracing new experiences and adventures in and out of the classroom (the kind-of kids who get excited about trying a crazy sport like orienteering and even dressing in team costumes to do it). Math classes are small and include Alebra II, Pre-Calc, and Calculus (both AB and BC depending on students' needs). If you are interested or know anyone who might be interested, e-mail me at suzannemarmstrong@yahoo.com for more information.
