GuyO:
Does anyone have experience with printing O-maps using a Brother all-in-one inkjet printer, including whether the Brother (or compatible) ink is waterproof?

I have a rudimentary Brother Printer hate site if that is any use.

If you own it, just print something, let it dry for some time, and then stick it under a faucet. If it's not waterproof, you'll know right away. It will be very obvious.

The only waterproof inkjets I know of are Epson models that use durabrite inks. The water test for these shows a little pigment leaving, but the paper is more likely to fall apart. (Paper selection is important for best water resistance.)

Sweat seems to be more effective as a solvent for ink than ordinary water.

I do not own a Brother printer; I am considering purchasing an MFC-6490cw. Perhaps Staples will print me some test copies (not a map though) at their store.

Log: please provide a url to your "hate site", or tell me/us why you hate them.

If the ink runs on normal paper, try Canon HR101N - expensive, but good results with inkjet printers.

I use a Brother MFC and love the all-in-oneness to it, but the ink is not waterproof. Although the ink seems to hold up fairly well to sweat from my hands long enough to make it through a race, and even with some light rain. Definitely not the best you can get but has been good enough to get me by.

Inkjet and maps or contol descriptions are a bad mix, laser is the only way
If u must use an inkjet use a heavier weight paper, they absorb less moister from ur sweat and the ink is less likely to run
