Well, after today's performance, shadowing them at West Point appears to be a near impossible proposition. Ross would appear to be floating above the rocks, while I stumble along every step of the way...
How does shadowing work? What could I learn from shadowing you or Mike?
I think it allows me to follow along and observe the methods/habits of the better orienteers. For example, how often do they check the compass and map, what do they look for in the terrain while running, what routes (both micro and macro) they take, etc.
Conversely, it would be equally helpful if a better/more experienced orienteerer shadows me while I run a course, and gives me feedback afterwards on what I did right v. wrong, etc.
