I wasn't too far from the truth - my colleague who was here last night got asked 'are you from DSE' in a tone which suggested that the wrong answer could seriously endanger his health. I suspect DPI's not as controversial in these parts (although, having said that, I seem to recall Aaron being sent for some self-defence training a year or two back)..

The field day itself was much easier than I imagined, but then there was a stand operated (rather bravely) by the Northern Victorian Irrigation Renewal Project which was a more obvious target for pipeline-related grievances.

Good article in today's Age about a previously vociferous pipeline opponent who thinks his house was saved by pipeline workers. It seems to have helped him separate people from policy.
