they are to be stamped out, destroyed, annihilated. replaced with traffic lights in all cases to ensure that whatever the time, day or in the depths of the night, no matter how much or littel traffic there is, you have to stop and wait.
when Kate and I were on honeymoon we met a guy in one of the places we stayed who worked for Edinburgh council roads planning depatmet (or whatever). I did think at the time I should have a go at him for removing perfectly good roundabouts. Since then they've gone mad - I wish I'd punched him.
There is no logical reason
