Discussion: Flying to Canberra?

I thought you drove to such short-distance destinations as Canberra, the presence of three competing airlines driving prices down being a minor detail of little interest compared to the opportunity to spend quality time on the Hume Highway and enjoy the local radio stations of towns barely large enough to have same.

You obviously remember a few of those road trips well (although these days the iPod's supplanted the obscure radio stations, unless the cricket or football's on). These days I normally fly if I'm on my own and don't have something on a long way from Canberra (like Badja or the bottom end of Namadgi).

Whatever kilometres the car's not doing this summer will probably be made up for in the middle of next year, though. (I may or may not have mentioned here previously that I have tentative plans for a round-Australia trip next winter, now that I've come up for long-service leave).
