Anyone notice that every person describing orienteering in this video mentions at least one, if not both, of really bad vegetation and terrible weather as parts of the sport? O in Ireland sounds great...

I really enjoyed that. It was beautiful terrain. The cartoon heads moving on the map was very cool and very funny.

BorisGr, let me set the scene....
We got dumped at the end of a random lane at 0630, hung around in the rain for a while until everyone else arrived. It was a miserable day - damp, windy, cold....and that was just the filming.

The night we did the voice over we were again in wicklow the night of our long run - only this time it was colder and windyer.

Orienteering on irish mountain is a fantastic buzz - be it West Cork, Mournes or one of the many islands that have been mapped.

well, if you're into that kind of thing, 20 years on from the first Shamrock Oringen, it's heading back to the World Cup terrain of 1998:

pure gluttony, as Boris' kat would put it.

I personally want to thank the film crew for using a tripod. Very nicely done. Beautiful shots. Maybe miserable running but beautiful to look at.

It is the best filmed orienteering video I can think of.

What are you all looking at on the second line? A copy of the map w/course? Map w/out course?

Thank everyone for the positive encouragement - tripods are a must - so is animation - so is co-operative runners. Wouldn't have been anything without the runners, by the way Colm we're planning a sequel - who's game?
