sounds like someone is having a whale of a time! sounds good John, dont die on us now.
M8 get up here! I saw Bilbo today for some maps and have twenty training kites. Will be training in sexy (snowy?) forests Sat/Sun am and pm. Let me know if any of you Sheffield crew are interested. Matt reckons he has too much work to do - something about the final year of something, dunno wot.
sorry running 1st leg of calderdale way relay sunday - next time
You should have gone up Wetherlam - was absolutely gorgeous up there on Wednesday afternoon :) and there was plenty of O-training on offer last week...
What time were u up there then? At ten to four on the Old Man summit the wind was almost blowing me over! Agree gorgeous clear day tho.
So the world is against me doing some o-ing training this week - I knew nothing about it! Maybe that was the plan haha! At least you were mostly out in the open, if you had been in the forests all week I think I would cry.
about half an hour earlier, wind was fairly strong but not too bad. Really nice run down off the top with absolutely no-one around, and the sun quickly disappearing behind the snow-topped Old Man, difficult to beat :)
Your photos from Scafell/Langdale are pretty spectacular - in conditions like those, especially in winter I reckon I'd prefer to be going up fells than orienteering and so in my view you made a good choice! Views from Yewdale on Thursday were also pretty good - Helvellyn ridge and Blencathra crystal-clear to the north, winter sun over the coast to the south and the Howgills and Dales on the slightly more cloudy eastern panorama... make the most of days like these while you're up there!
Thanks, just wish I had a decent camera. Tuesday on the Helvellyn ridge was better tho but all I have to show for that is memories. Think that's it tho. No clear days whatsoever on the 10-day forecast. Bottoms.
