Seems like the Pawtuckaway mark of 203 controls in a day has been broken, yesterday in Switzerland. Report (in german). See also training logs of Sandra and Marc. They used a mass start and 4 loops with short breaks in between to download the SI cards. Looks like the women did 150, so perhaps we still have the women's record.

Time to do it again, JJ?

It was a lot of fun, but also challenging!
Maps are here! Click on the map for a bigger version!

It appears that the US still has the record for most controls on 1 map without taking short breaks on a Sunday... ;-)

Short breaks? Map exchanges? Well, I don't feel so bad about having violated some of the "official" rules that the Norwegians laid down. But my biggest disappointment about this course is that Swisscheese got edged out by 33 seconds!

Some orienteering geek should put together a web page devoted to the progress of this goofy record.

Do it again, eh? Don't know about that. Where would I get my hands on 550 control flags?

JJ, I would help you find some and put them out... once I am done with this silly education thing which takes away all space for great ideas...

OK, next time, instead of a box of band-aids at the first-aid control, we'll have Marc with a syringe of novocaine and a pair of pliers.

Well, nothing should stop one from completing a world record... and certainly not a hurting tooth!

The 205 record was short lived.....
216!
is the number to beat now.

This is the north coast of Germany, right next to Poland. Is it really warm enough there in February to go running around in shorts? Or was that picture taken some other time?

No the picture from Ingo is from a sprint this summer. They do however say in the caption that it is "Ingo completing a new world record". hum....
