Neil K: That's gotta hurt your ankle on the big jumps. Stink about your injury, hope things come right enough for riding soon.

NSW Stinger: what bike is it?

Shep: Rear suspension is for comfort bikes (read adventure "racing" bikes)... ;)

It's a Scott Scale Contessa, a girls bike! Basically a Scale 20 with a shorter stem, pink seat and pink "Scott" - the frame, components and frame geometry is identical. I got the shop to give me a longer stem and flat bars, and put my seat (and Tiramic BB) on it so now its a tough girls bike.

NSW Stinger: so why didn't you just get the scale 20??

Shep: i didn't see the point in paying twice as much ;) no for real they retail for almost $4500 but Mal Adjusted had it for $2250, they couldn't sell it cause it's too big for (most) girls and I apparently most blokes are scared of riding a bike with pink on it! For a > $2000 discount i'd even wear a sports bra.

Dreaded: Nice bike great discount , when can you start riding again?
btw those big foot dudes have run around in pink for years
Shep + pink sports bra = I'd like to see that ;)

Shep: can maybe roll around on the road next week... physio said i'm now at the stage (after 1 month!) where a regular ankle sprain would have been after a day.

i wear a pink sports bra at the gym, come and spot me on the bench press Dreaded, then we can do bicep curls in front of the mirror together.

El Lukeo: I ride a scale 40 and find the geometry of the scale bikes is awesome, so good choice. I still dont know whether to go for a dual when i (hopefully) upgrade in 2 or so years time. I prefer riding hardtail mostly, but for rough riding like stromlo, essp for extended times like the scott, a dualie would be heaven on wheels... any thoughts??

lazydave: i am keen on a dualie next time i upgrade. the tech means that even lower end dualies are now good when u comes to stuff like not losing to much effort from 'bobbing'. though if you want one with like components to a decent hardtail the price just keeps rising....

i rode tom's trek top fuel and it was amazing, easily the best thing i have ever ridden (though the swing arm has now broken twice within 4months of owning it), his santa cruz isnt far behind either!

Shep: i'm not old enough for a dualie.
