Tooms: So, did you win?

tRicky: I take it you didn't go to Dunsborough for the Anaconda familiarisation weekend then. Does that mean we're not a team anymore? Shame.

Tooms: Apparently 6 boats were lost and one person (on their ski) was rescued 6 nautical miles offshore! No water safety either. Most people pulled out at Meelup but those that carried on got into difficulty rounding rocky point into Bunker Bay.

tRicky: Can't wait 'til race weekend. Oh wait, at the moment I'm not actually going. I can always do The Wil and join a team last minute though, except I'll be trained up.

Tooms: Ignoring the swim, we should have a race?

#  Posted 2008-10-06 13:34:57
fletch: Gee these Rapid Ascent guys mst be winning themselves heaps of fans out of potential newbie adventre racers at the moment. May be the shortest lived 'growth sport' in history, if only because all potential participants either die training/racing or simply run out of money to buy surf skis

Tooms: Someone at swimming this morning (tRicky, swimming is what you do when you fall off your ski in deep water!) said that the local newspapers 'down south' had insanely positive spin on it all - well-organised, top-notch event etc. Given we all know newspapers gild the lily a bit, this probably confirms the reality!!

tRicky: Well I emailed a girl about doing the MTB and run for her "team" today - currently she is a team of one, doing the swim and paddle. Perfect!

So who's planning on boycotting the GSAR next year, provided it goes ahead?

#  Posted 2008-10-06 15:50:29
fletch: well if it goes ahead, it will be organised by someone else won't it? and maybe they'll have learnt a couple of lessons from the first one. If they don't change something, the surf clubbies will probaly tell them to get stuffed...
