Not total rest days (except for those days when it's logistically impossible to train). I generally have two easy days a week - swim + easy run on Monday and swim only on Friday. Melbourne Forest Racers normally have a run on Monday nights (this is a social run and usually very slow) - although not this week. If the MFR run didn't exist I'd probably do Monday and Friday the other way round.

That said, jumping directly from 3-4 days per week to 7 days per week is asking for trouble as much as any other sudden dramatic increase in training is. I'm reasonably convinced that a large part of the reason why I stayed essentially injury-free from 15 to 25 is that I never increased training by more than about 20-25% over a 12-month period over that time.

I think the Dresden juniors have got the Monday night run sorted out...they just do the meal part!
