i was thinking i could do it this fall/spring. The thing is I probably wouldnt want to go training by myself at night, and friends probably wouldnt be willing to fork out the money for a headlamp as well.
a lot of tracks are, or you can ski the snow covered parkways(road) where visibility is good and there are no bumps or anything. Some people do use the small faint lamps though.
Wouldnt it be easy to blind people with a lamp like the ultra?
It is, if you want to blind someone. But usually you have your lamp pointing to the ground ahead of you and not to your friends faces, so it not really a problem.
Yes, I use walsh elite racer or asics dirt-dog (spikes) for orienteering. They both work well for orienteering and they cost less then ordinary o-shoes.
I basically do all orienteering in my jalas high cuts. But they are falling apart. I dont need the ankle support but i need to find a shoe that fit my orthotics and that fit my feet well.
I do all my running in asics 2120s, nothing special. I'm thinking of buying a pair of racing shoes to use for running races or for sprints.
You should try Olway Tiger or Jalas Black, if you could get hold of a pair. They are both basically the same as your jalas but without the ankle support.
When it comes to racing shoes I like Asics racer, Puma roadracer and Saucony Fastswitch. Not exactly shoes to train a lot in, but they are light and works great for comps.
I'm not sure if i want to go back to jalas though, because my current o-shoes don't even fit me very well and after seeing what happend to Darius' shoes which he bought at o-ringen this year...

I was thinking of the Saucany kilkenny flats, but i'm not sure about ordering shoes without having tried them on first.
If you order shoes I think you should try a pair of the same brand in a local shop before, so that you know the size. But, still there's no assurance that you get the right size...
But I think kilkenny flats are nice, I lot of my friends use those...
Found out today Jalas is sending me a new pair. Apparently they were having some trouble with the glue. The sole of a shoe should not come apart in 4 weeks!!!
I might try Vj's, and i can go with whichever of their models fits my foot the best. Gonna try them out if they are being sold at the North American champs in 2 weeks.
Unfortunately I am not going to the North Americans. Spent too much money this summer. It would probably cost me $1,000 to go with airfare and everything.
