| GrantM: | I am always amazed at how many little ways there are to make mistakes in orienteering. You think that you have everything covered but the number of ways just seems to keep on growing, as does the list of things to do to avoid them. You can now add 'check the map scale before starting' to yours. It is already on mine. |

| rockman: | The times for the first leg are funny because the start units and start clock were both fast but not by the same amount (roughly 1:30), so almost everyone got a time bonus. This might have been the "map scale checking allowance" |

| kazza: | I was one of the early starters and I think the 90 sec allowance only affected later runners. Not sure, but as Josh said, it really shouldn't make any difference if I'm reading the features. Trouble is, I'd come to a gully and think 'Ok that's that one on my map', but of course it was probably only a minor one not near so far along the leg. Leepback said they started telling people about the scale at the start after the first few time slots had started. Another lesson learnt. |

| NMFC: | u wernt the only one i was sitting at the presentation when someone told me it was a 1:15 000 map
But i would have done better had the map been 1:25 000 or something as there would have been enough map for me |
