DVOA is hosting a Senior & Junior Team training opportunity with Tom Hollowell the weekend of Sept. 13 & 14 at their annual training weekend at Hickory Run State Park in the Poconos. Every one is invited to participate. It is an inexpensive weekend as the cost to Non-DVOA club members is only $36 and that includes all meals and lodging for the weekend. The lodging is a large building with sleeping on the floor so bring your mat and sleeping bag. Hot showers are available to all. Besides a good training opportunity there is Night O saturday night and regular club courses on sunday. Lots of fun and socialization as well. For more information and to register go to DVOA website and click on the Hickory Run Training weekend announcement.

The plans for the Team Training weekend are coming together. The theme for the week-end is going to be "Back to basics", i.e. using an advanced level orienteering environment but focusing on basic skills (handrails/simplification, change-of-pace, compass/pacing etc). Training sessions will be relatively short (appr 45 mins) to keep focus. A rough plan for the week-end looks something like this:

Friday evening: opportunity for training if you can get there plus an evening lecture.

Saturday am (9 am): training session followed by lunch
saturday pm (1 pm start): training session followed by lecture
saturday evening: participate in DVOAs night-o event.

Sunday am: participate in DVOAs event (shorter course recommended)
Sunday pm (appr 2 pm start): training session

If you are planning on attending, please add your name to the list here Attackpoint list Include a note with your intended arrival.
