| boyle: | Well, running shoes have really increased in cost since my last purchase. One now has to sell a house to be able to afford new shoes. |

| bigbluemarble: | $140 each pair - any other pair I have gotten didn't make the grade. Do you run with music? I am needing more motivation while running the longer distances so I think I'm going to give into a small ipod.
What are we gonna do without scrabulous now? |

| boyle: | You've already been invited to a wordscraper game. If the ap holds together, I actually think that they've improved on the scrabble board.
Please don't run with music in both ears. You won't hear me approaching you on my bike as I dingding at you or on my blades or shoes as I yell at you. You won't hear the bears or the stray dogs. You certainly won't hear the motorised vehicles. And you won't hear that old man who just fell down and needs your help and the little kid lost in the park Variation is how I've always dealt with motivation. Change everything often: time of day, duration, speed (constant or varied, fast or slow - but always negative split), route (change location, change direction, change terrain), weather (running in rain is awesome), diet (eat while you're running). Make every outing different. It's harder to log but it's easier to get out the door and easier to keep going. I understand the shoe cost issues. My shoes cost about $140. I just don't pay full price. |

| bigbluemarble: | Yes, I like your "change everything" plan and I even enjoy the challenge of making things different all the time. I don't really need motivation to get out the door...I just need more support in child care or a better plan to get these long runs in. My challenge is that I get incredibly bored or distracted (oww, look at that pretty bird) on runs longer than 4k. I need the distraction to finish. Honestly, I don't "love" running so it's sometimes hard to push myself to finish. I promise not to run with both ears occupied though. It would seem too strange to me without the outside, surrounding noises. I promise.
How do you not pay full price?? And how do you receive the invites for wordscraper? Crystal said she sent me one too but I haven't seen any. |

| boyle: | I'm not sure that the wordscraper ap is working at all. I don't know how the invites or next turn functions work. I just go to my applications page and click on it there.
If you start putting in enough miles, you'll be consuming shoes every few months and then you just keep an eye on prices for the shoes you like. Your $140 shoes are likely sold by big American sporting stores. This is real reason I make so many cross-border trips. And you thought it was the Ben & Jerry's. |
