| eddie: | There is a solar eclipse tomorrow (Aug 1) which will be visible during the middle distance race at WUOC. Will have nearly 55% totality at max there, so should be noticeable. Will be interesting to hear if anyone can tell the difference while running. According to the website, the middle race is from 10-1 local. Here is the eclipse timing for Tallin, Estonia:
Aug 1 (assuming Estonia is UT+3hrs) First Contact: 11:45 AM local Max Eclipse: 12:50 PM local (55% covered) Last Contact: 1:55 PM Local Full local circumstance table for northern Europe/... Be sure to check out leaf shadows near peak, and make a simple viewer from a french fry box, bulletin 3 cover or piece of cardboard trash - just punch a tiny hole in it with a pencil point and hold it ~0.5m above the ground or another piece of paper to make an image of the sun. LIke this. Never look directly at the sun or through the pinhole at the sun. |

| unpronunciation: | The Motor Vehicle Registry in Connecticut where I was getting my license yesterday was advertising the webcast on their screens, along with the ads for Christian Rock stations and Quinnipiac Community College. |

| jjcote: | Webcast of the eclipse or webcast of WUOC? |

| unpronunciation: | The eclipse, but WUOC would not have surprised me. |

| Lori: | I managed to make a pinhole camera out of the pin holes in my bib number. The eclipse was awesome, although there were too many clouds to really get a good view of it. |
