khall: Well done to the NA ladies in the sprint at O-Ringen. Hillary and Sandra both with very strong results, and the others not far behind!!

#  Posted 2008-07-23 00:15:29
Ratlaf: Is there a website? All the ones I found don't load...

#  Posted 2008-07-23 00:53:17
vosvos: Results could be found here.

Ricka: Apparently the site is very busy and hence often inaccessible during our day - wait until those Swedes go to bed :).

The "By Country" page is a great summary of both today's race and total time. Put cursor on any time to see 'time behind leader'.

It's good to see that Sam was able to get on the course today.

blairtrewin: The North American men gave a pretty good account of themselves too - I thought my run would be good enough to beat some of them but with one exception it wasn't.

#  Posted 2008-07-23 02:10:56
Ratlaf: Kewl, Thanks!

#  Posted 2008-07-23 06:44:15
vmeyer: WinSplits are also available.

A mind boggling 138 classes with 20700+ entrants!!

#  Posted 2008-07-24 07:40:39
EricW: Hillary and Sandra again strong in the WCup Long, amazingly similar placings.

#  Posted 2008-07-24 19:47:39
ebone: Hillary placed 20th today in the World Cup middle--outstanding! The terrain was mostly above tree line with very low ground vegetation and quite fast, tempting parallel errors and overruns. Relocation was often difficult on the subtle features. I mostly used my compass fairly scrupulously and was glad I did, although I still made a few of the aforementioned parallel errors and overruns.

ebone: Sandra fared less well, getting really hypoglycemic (to the point of having a narrowing field of vision) with the associated mental and physical problems. She has raced more than the rest of the team, and maybe that took it's toll today.

#  Posted 2008-07-24 21:20:55
blairtrewin: Is Hillary's 20th the best World Cup result ever by an American?

#  Posted 2008-07-24 21:27:13
khall: Better than my best (24th??). Pretty sure that some Canadians have been higher. Peggy??

Eric is being modest - he had a good run too! As did Mike S.

And Holly K. had a great run on D18 today!! (etapp 4)

Hammer: Best NorAm result in a World Cup is Denise Demonte's 4th place in the 1986 Canadian World Cup race.

#  Posted 2008-07-24 21:59:11
Hammer: With the ORingen World Cup over will the World Cup participants chase start on the last day or is their racing done for the week?

#  Posted 2008-07-24 22:28:26
Boojums: There is a special chase start WRE for the WC participants. Some of our runners are going to run tomorrow, but some are ready for a break...

#  Posted 2008-07-24 22:43:19
Ratlaf: I agree that Sandra has been racing a lot, and was wondering about her running in every event at WOC. Maybe too much pressure on her??

Also, I saw that Swiss Daniel Hubman beat Thierry today!! Ok, by only 3 seconds, but still...!

#  Posted 2008-07-25 02:47:28
bubo: Congratulations to Hillary (and Eric) for a great run today. She starts as number 25 in the WRE chase start tomorrow after three solid runs.

#  Posted 2008-07-25 13:35:50
Tapio: After 10 starts in the last 12 days, Minna Kauppi says she is going home and not running the chase. She sure is ready for a break. How did they come up with this crazy schedule?

#  Posted 2008-07-25 13:59:02
Tapio: Minna changed her mind: "But as I'm so greedy and still on the second spot, I will run tomorrow too and try to get some money home. It's going to be eleventh competition in two weeks for me so I know its not going to be any kind of enjoyment or even fun." http://www.minnakauppi.com/eindex.php

#  Posted 2008-07-25 15:15:22
eddie: "It will be so delicious - like a second dessert after 3 breakfasts, 2 lunches, one afteroon snack, 2 dinners and a chocolate I sneaked between two of the three breakfasts."

ndobbs: :)

#  Posted 2008-07-26 02:19:45
Hammer: 8th place (out of 140) today for 16 year old Emily Kemp in D18Elite. She ran D21Elite at the Fin5 the week before.

#  Posted 2008-07-26 08:50:19
ndobbs: huh? why on earth is she running d21e????????????

good on her for kicking d18ass though :)

#  Posted 2008-07-26 18:40:12
cjross: I think she thought that the regular D16 races were way to short. She certainly held her own D21E anyways.
