Well, there are two problems with a lot of hair, as least as relates to FDF battles -- (1) the FDFs come in for a landing on the blue tape, touch down, get a little sticky stuff on their feet but not enough to hold them, take off, brush against some hair, and get caught there, and/or (2) the hair bounces around enough that it may touch the blue tape and then it's stuck there.

Note that I know this only by observation of those well endowed on the hair front (like Barb). The philosopher and I have nothing to worry about, though we would have some problems decades ago, when he apparently sported waist-length locks!

Without looking at your reply, I was able to identify everyone except Dan -- maybe because he doesn't orienteer much these days (outside of the Heartland region)?

I was pleased to be able to recognize the entire lineup. Swampfox definitely had more hair back then, too!

That must be the shortest WOC team ever! Peter is one of the taller athletes! Maybe once the guys lost their hair their bones decompressed and they sprang up.

When lining up for a group photo on sloping ground, wouldn't you expect me to be on the high side? I'm not stupid.

Bruce Wolfe is not short. Heather Williams isn't short, either. I think PG is right and we were standing on a slope.
Doesn't look to me like Mikell has a lot of hair in this pic. And I think I look like I'm 12.
Dan M. doesn't orienteer much at all these days, even in the heartland.

No, he didn't have much hair in that picture. But he really doesn't have much hair now! And you don't look 12, you look about 17-19, I'd say. (And I guess you were really about 25.)
