BorisGr: After running the 6th leg in OK Linné's 2nd place Jukola team, Jan Troeng, Swedish elite orienteer and former JWOC medalist, has embarked on a cycling adventure across Europe. He has flown up to Nordkapp in the very north of Norway and is planning on biking south all the way down to Crete (yes, he will take ferries when necessary.)
You can follow his adventures via live GPS-tracking updated every 5 minutes on his website, http://www.jantroeng.se . I think it's pretty cool, and I think some APers might find this of interest as well.

JennyJ: That's really cool - wonder if he'll bump into my dad - walking from York to Athens and currently in N.France!

chitownclark: Is there a British flag somewhere on that site ... so we could get some of those interesting comments translated into English?

BorisGr: No... I might translate a couple of the more interesting ones and post them here over the course of his journey (expected to take two months.)

jjcote: Note that he's expressing distances in "mil", which translates to 10K increments (like Tiomila => 10 mil => 100 km).

birdman: Ah yes, the Norwegian "mile". Discovered by me when I somehow ended up at Nordkapp on the one day of the week buses don't leave from there. How to fill in time? "There is a track down to the coast, but you have to walk a mile down the road to where it starts, so you probably don't want to do that" Hah - I can handle a mere mile of boring road walking, what's wrong with these Norwegians?... 10km and quite some time later....

(worth the effort though, once off the road definitely the most interesting walk I've done at 3am)

phiggins: 60 days and 6271km later he made it!
