You are doing 8 x 800 intervals, and you only call that a 3 in intensity?
When I was on my college cross country team, we never did more than 6 800's.
Well, look how slow I was doing them! Hardly worthy of being called intervals! This is part of marathon preparation so I was doing more reps, but quite slowly. The point, as I understand, is just to get my body used to running a little faster than the very slow long-run pace, so that hopefully marathon pace can feel very slow and relaxed ... we'll see if it works.
