No, different team... I guess there are several meanies in that league!

Too bad you're not on the rmoc-mapping email list (do you want to be?). You can read some of today's fun discussions here.

Sherry's input was reasonable; Brian is on another planet (Planet Pace Count, I think.)

Yeah, I'm glad I'm not a part of that discussion.

Brian definitely knows what he's doing, he's just not making O maps. O maps MUST be field checked in my opinion and NOT with a supposedly accurate GPS. O maps are visual representations of what the terrain LOOKS like, not what it measures out to be. That's the distinction I don't think he gets. They are of course accurate in terms of trails, boulders etc. too...

His work is valuable in getting accurate contours but that's as far as it goes. In my opinion.

By the way, I've drafted the Willow Creek map into OCAD, so RMOC would be able to use it for a street O venue at some point. It probably needs some serious updates though.

Nope. What he's proposing would result in bogus contours, just like the US Relay Champs in Idaho a few years ago. I've posted some comments to the Yahoo! group.

Alright! A true authority backing me up on this. Thanks JJ!

b0be was a great voice of reason in the discussion, too. He's much more diplomatic and succinct than I am...

It's hard to be diplomatic when he thinks that his way is the only way, the best thing since sliced bread, and that any other way is totally inferior. Grrr.
