Ugh, you ran intervals after yesterday? That had to hurt...I didn't even want to do the stairs from my office to my classroom on the 4th floor today. Not sore, but very fatigued. What brought the intervals on, anyway - DPE?

Oh yes, DPE is lovely. Our cardio lab had us running a little interval, and it was quite painful. I didn't go all out, but it sure did feel like it. I guess thats why they claim they're "the department with the heart."

Geez...maybe we need the DPE equivalent of PMI...they actually put us on profile for 2 weeks after running the Marine Corps Marathon. I was grateful - I hurt so badly from that, I had to walk down stairs backwards.

Sure made the minute callers laugh, though.

When was that?

Firstie year...I'd only run out to Buckner and back as my long run, I had a bad case of runner's knee, and I ran the stupid thing anyway. Good job, cadet - A for effort, F for judgment...

Even better, I was a reg cdr at the time, so the plebes were truly amused because they were a little unhappy about having to call minutes in my division to begin with!

And to top it off, my XO ran it, too (fast enough to qualify for Boston)...and passed out as a heat casualty at the end. He was supposed to parade that weekend for me, since he was chipper and bouncing around once he got back from getting 3 IVs, but his profile absolutely ruled out anything strenuous while they evaluated him for brain damage, so I had to go explain to my RTO why he shouldn't write me up for breaking my profile...and I paraded that weekend with legs that shook the entire time. Very interesting experience.
