The first meet of the season, April 20, is coming together nicely. The
snow is pretty deep in places, still, but should be mostly gone by
Sunday. It will be wet under foot, though, so be prepared.

There will be three courses, a Novice and two Intermediate courses, one
of 3.5km and one of 5.0km. Given that the complex areas of the map are
snow covered or will be terribly wet and muddy, or both, this event will
be more like a long sprint than a normal B-meet.

For the intermediate courses we will be using a combination of SI and
traditional punch cards. Some of the controls will be very close
together and you will have special maps to help you out. You will need
to be attentive to getting the right control in the right order and
punching in the right box - we will be checking carefully.

The start will be at Terry Fox sports complex rather than the usual parking
lot because that lot is not yet open. To get to Terry Fox, head south
on Riverside from Hogs back and turn right into Mooney's Bay and
immediately right again over a hill and down into the Terry Fox parking
lot.

Note that because we are using SI in a very public area we will have
folks watching over those controls. Since we do not want these folks
standing around for a long time we will have starts only from 10:00 to
10:45 and the course will close at noon, when we will start bringing in
the controls. That should be lots of time for everyone to run, but
don't sleep in ;-)
