#  Posted 2008-04-09 23:59:28
Spike: Looks like Tuxi mispunched 5.

#  Posted 2008-04-10 00:07:53
Jagge: Or there is forking. I don't know. He also usually keeps gps in his pocket, so accuracy may not be perfect (body shadow). It actually may just be pocket/gps thing, sat count is only 3-5. I'll call and ask... (yes, gps was in a far from perfect place and route was inacccurate).

Tuxi's time was about 40:55
--
It's over for now. Quie many no-shows this time.

#  Posted 2008-04-16 22:57:25
Jagge: One hour to start. Start is 21:30 Finnish time.

Two runners seems to be there already, and third should appear soon.

#  Posted 2008-04-23 18:48:32

#  Posted 2008-04-24 00:25:37
A.Le Coq: Same forking for every guy on tracking..

#  Posted 2008-04-24 00:25:47
A.Le Coq: so far

#  Posted 2008-04-24 00:30:56
Jagge: next must be different - if not, it's the same all the way to the finish.

#  Posted 2008-04-24 00:31:23
A.Le Coq: What's the length of the tail - 1 min?

#  Posted 2008-04-24 00:34:49
Jagge: 1 min (I think)

#  Posted 2008-04-24 00:38:09
A.Le Coq: mistake at 3... (Tuxi and Topi)

#  Posted 2008-04-24 00:40:49
Jagge: Prince almost got them, 20-30 sec longer mistake and they would have been all together again.

#  Posted 2008-04-24 00:43:34
A.Le Coq: prince went swimming..

#  Posted 2008-04-24 00:45:57
A.Le Coq: but paddles on bravely

#  Posted 2008-04-24 00:45:58
Jagge: He found it dificult to get over the stream.
BTW, note those checkboxes by the zoom, you can put tails on/off.

#  Posted 2008-04-24 00:48:34
A.Le Coq: Chance for prince again... (13). T&T made a mistake.

#  Posted 2008-04-24 00:50:23
A.Le Coq: Oh, big mistake for Prince..

#  Posted 2008-04-24 00:52:12
Yukon King: nice to see the finns running around !

#  Posted 2008-04-24 01:02:46
Jagge: sprint finish? Yes, and Topi is a bit faster. I am not surprised.
a bit under 1 hour (about 58 min) for Topi and Tuxi.

#  Posted 2008-04-24 01:07:06
A.Le Coq: Why are they all climbing the green hill 17-18?

#  Posted 2008-04-24 01:07:31
A.Le Coq: Wet marsh?

#  Posted 2008-04-24 01:08:30
Jagge: I don't know, I was wondering the same. Maybe there was a sign pointin there...

Oh, yet an other mistake for Prince at second last.

#  Posted 2008-04-24 01:09:38
A.Le Coq: Prince would need a sign now.

#  Posted 2008-04-24 01:12:10
Jagge: I hope team CSU are not watching how our best men are doing... they wuold be laughing at us.

#  Posted 2008-04-24 01:14:53
A.Le Coq: team CTU, Jack Bauer, is watching, at least. Never laughs

#  Posted 2008-04-24 01:30:30
Jagge: And CSI: Helsinki
(Control Site Investigation).

#  Posted 2008-04-30 20:15:10
Jagge: Mass start again today at 22 Finnish time. Last event of the spring season. 4 hours to start. I'll be running myself too.

#  Posted 2008-05-01 00:05:11
Spike: The walk to the start has begun.

#  Posted 2008-05-01 00:52:06
Spike: Jagge slips by Tuxi at 12 and they're taking different routes to 13...it'll be interesting to see this race.

#  Posted 2008-05-01 02:19:26
Jagge: Home again. I guess like it has worked somehow. I didn't see Tuxi or Topi, but Tuxi said he saw me. I ran with an old halogen headlamp and I forgot to recharge the battery, I used it with 10W and hoped it would not die. And it didn't, lucky me.

#  Posted 2008-08-19 11:34:53
Jagge: Yökuppi autumn season begins tomorrow. Wednesday 21:30 Finnish time (GMT+2). Tracking of 5-7 runners can be watched live at the same web page as before.

They were wise enough at Beijing to not have any events at the same time - I am quite sure the bird's nest would have be empty because everyone would stay home to watch the far more exiting Yökuppi event!

#  Posted 2008-08-20 23:05:48
A.Le Coq: And we are ready for tracking...
http://www.yokuppi.net/tracker/cgi-bin/reitti.cgi?...
30min to start

This will be night-O.
Some day-time pics from terrain:
http://hirppa.kuvat.fi/kuvat/Suunnistus/2008/08_07...

#  Posted 2008-08-20 23:45:59
A.Le Coq: They are waiting for the dark, I suppose...
But very soon the first will start.
You can see Jagge, Minna, Peesi, Prince. Where's Tuxi?

#  Posted 2008-08-20 23:48:19
A.Le Coq: Women first! Minna R is on the course.

#  Posted 2008-08-21 00:05:21
Tuxi: Tuxi home,a little bit flu

#  Posted 2008-08-21 00:05:36
A.Le Coq: Prince taking a big mistake..? Wrong hill.
Tomi goes straight to 2nd.

#  Posted 2008-08-21 00:06:03
Tuxi: Prince have problems with 2nd control point

#  Posted 2008-08-21 00:08:30
A.Le Coq: Marathon man did some extra running.

#  Posted 2008-08-21 00:19:32
A.Le Coq: Peesi's signal went down?
First little mistake for Minna, at 4th.
Troubles for Prince at the green area half-way from 3rd to 4th.

#  Posted 2008-08-21 00:23:08
A.Le Coq: Maybe there is forking at 1st and 2nd? See Minna's and Jagge's routes.

#  Posted 2008-08-21 00:28:32
A.Le Coq: Nice race for Tomi so far.

#  Posted 2008-08-21 00:29:29
A.Le Coq: Trying to get over the cliff now...

#  Posted 2008-08-21 00:30:11
A.Le Coq: Maybe it is impassable?

#  Posted 2008-08-21 00:31:21
A.Le Coq: Should have passed it from left side..?

#  Posted 2008-08-21 00:40:56
A.Le Coq: Minna and Prince went nice to 7th.
Will Jagge take a same route as Tomi?

#  Posted 2008-08-21 00:43:37
A.Le Coq: No, he climbed it from left.

#  Posted 2008-08-21 00:46:06
A.Le Coq: Tomi finished. Good run. Is there a small sliding at 11th.

#  Posted 2008-08-21 00:48:09
A.Le Coq: Prince and Minna are coming with quite tight touch.

#  Posted 2008-08-21 00:49:12
A.Le Coq: What now? Identifying mistake for Minna

#  Posted 2008-08-21 00:55:16
A.Le Coq: She cleared it.

#  Posted 2008-08-21 00:59:53
A.Le Coq: It's over for now.
Quite plain course, no real route choices.
They all orienteer straightforward. Just some mistakes to watch.
Next time mass start. That will be more interesting.

#  Posted 2008-08-21 02:52:35
Jagge: No forking. We (Minna and I) tested a cell phones with internal gps. Those aren't as accurate as sirf III ones, that's why there is lot's of short cuts and it makes some places look like forking.

But you get some idea how things are going in forest, so maybe those aren't not so bad after all. You just can't see any tiny detalis of the route.

#  Posted 2008-08-27 18:42:59
Jagge: Today start at 21:30 Finnish time. This time it will be a mass start with 10mila style (?) forking. Same web address. 5 hours left.

#  Posted 2008-08-27 22:50:54
Jagge: Map & course is out. About 30 minutes to start.

#  Posted 2008-08-27 23:31:56
Jagge: Looks like we have only one runner :( Two of the regular are sick and some are not there for other reasons.

Mass start with 1 runner ... hmm...

#1 road running. I think I might have gone straight & path by the lake.
#2 clear run so far. I wonder who'sthe leader of the pack. Not sultaani I guess.
#3 straight to right forking, all too clean run so far.
#4 no problem
#5 map is not too well positioned there, but it still look like a mistake.. actually it is perfectly positioned and it was a mistake for sure.
#6 wrong forking first I guess, but right one was close.
#7 lake path choice
BTW, this is Finnish relay champs 2007 ma/terrain. Thierry was pretty impressive here, even more then Sulttaani.
#8 easy, but he left the path too late.
... to finish, pretty clean. I wonder was there any faster runners. Results are not as online, posting results to web will take some hours.

#  Posted 2008-08-28 00:10:12
riku: Isn't it spelled sulttani...or this more like the raisin? Nice terrain (just found pictures at the yokuppi.net). Never mind now I see it is with two "t"s on GPS.

#  Posted 2008-08-28 00:13:11
riku: If perfectly positioned did he run through someone's garage on the way to 1?
Nice job Sulttani so far, whoever you are and whoever you are trying to outrun, I must miss the exciting sprint to the finish as my daughter says this is boring...well she is only 3.

#  Posted 2008-08-28 00:18:24
Jagge: Hey, of course it's perfectly positioned, because it's done by me(!?)
Maybe it is Sulttaanis's garage. He doesn't live far from here. Or he felt like singing - no, that's karaoke.

Sulttaani alias Jarno Käyhkö (The Sultan of Salpatie), Vehkalahden Veikot. Jukola 1st leg winner some years ago.

I watched it with my cell phone, here is a snapshot of the mistake at #5: http://routegadget.awardspace.com/misc/gpstracking...

Anyway, it's over now for now.

Jagge: Start again today 9pm Finnish time. 11 hours to start.

Jagge: Tonight's map and course (A and C course + all controls):
http://www.yokuppi.net/tracker/cgi-bin/reitti.cgi?...
30 minutes to first start, it wll not be mass start this time.

#  Posted 2008-09-03 23:01:43
Jagge: Ok, here we go. Look's like we have at least four runners, three of them warming up.

#  Posted 2008-09-03 23:12:39
A.Le Coq: Tuxi at 1st.

#  Posted 2008-09-03 23:14:01
A.Le Coq: Prince is taking another route choice to 1st

#  Posted 2008-09-03 23:18:13
A.Le Coq: Siiri is on the way, C-course.
Peesi, A-course.

#  Posted 2008-09-04 00:17:34
Jagge: Brave run by Siiri - C look quite tricky night course for beginners. Peesi got eaten by the vihattu monster (I heard he did exellent run, 40min).

Lots of mistakes very close to controls. No reflectors? Anyway, its over now.

#  Posted 2008-09-10 20:52:33
Jagge: It's Wednesday.(20:30 Finish time). Today's race is at Nastola, same site as Finnish sprint champs 2008. Live tracking will be at sake page as before:
http://www.yokuppi.net/tracker/cgi-bin/reitti.cgi?...
Tonight's map is out, A course (B and C courses with blue lines). 15 minutes to start.

- Tuxi seems to be there, and "Peesi" Pentinen, last week's winner.
- Prince (AP's Terkelsen) is live and kicking, running around 400m track.
- Tuxi is having some difficulties with #2.
- looks like the north part of map is not calibrated too well - I didn't have much reference data. Well - I don't bother to fix it on the fly, let's see how it goes.
- Tuxi is making spaghetti at #5
- prince has made pretty clean run so far... and all the way to finish. well done.

So, it's over for today. I peeked stats briefly, looks like we had record audience for this live tracking tonight. I was wathing and so was Yahoo! Slurp and Google bot. That makes three, not bad at all!

#  Posted 2008-09-17 18:59:07
Jagge: About 3 hours to start. Mass start 20:15 Finnish time. This should be intresting, tonight's terrain is really challenging. And A.Le Coq is course setters, so anything can happen. Some new runners with tracking devices should pop up too. Unfortunately I am sick and I can't run.

#  Posted 2008-09-17 22:05:43
Jagge: 4 runners warming up. 15 min to start.

Cool race. Peesi made mistake at #8, Tuxi got away there. Prince & Peesi together from #8 to finish. Lots of mistakes just as we wxpected. But not any really big ones this time. Maybe live audience makes you navigate better?

7 days to next session...
