A while back I posted that I need someone to run the Concession Stand at West Point in a few weeks. Also I need people to help as well. Denny and I have been doing concessions for the Juniors all over the country for a number of years now and we need a break. Both of our orienteering has suffered from all of our work and we want to get back to more serious orienteering but do not want to see the fundraising that we have started fall apart as we really need to continure to raise funds for the junior program. We are offering to bring all of our equipment for the concession stand as well as do the shopping for all of the food. We will set the concession stand up friday afternoon and will help to clean it up at the end of the day on saturday. Also this will be a one day only concession stand since the event will be in different locations on saturday and sunday. All we are asking is for someone to be responsible for the actual running of the concession stand the day of so that we can get out into the woods without having to worry about getting back to the concession stand and whether or not someone is taking care of it. I realize that I'm asking other orienteers to help but I truly feel that it is time that everyone get involved in our Junior program in one way or another. This country is very large and we have some really good junior programs going now and it takes a lot of time and energy to keep them going and growning and NO one person can do it alone. This will be just the first of many calls for help you are going to hear from me, so if you care about the juniors or if you have a junior then it is time to get involved or suffer the losses that will happen.

Also the loss of this concession stand at West Point will not only effect the junior fund but all that go to West Point as they will need to plan for their meals since West Point only offers saturday night dinner and there is no REAL close places to get food for the weekend.

So think about this very carefully and decide if it is something you can do to help the juniors as well as the orienteers at the event. You can contact me through this posting or by email. If I receive no offers for help by this friday 4/11 then the concession stand will be cancelled all together.

I'll be there to help as long as I am not out in the woods! But I don't know if you want me cooking the hamburgers... unless everyone wants them either rare or well done. If you want edible food, then you might consider lending a hand!

I'll be there as well and can help when i'm not out in the woods. But like Samantha i'm not sure you want me cooking meat, haven't done it in a while.

I'm pretty sure you can count on Ben, Meg and me too, when we're not running. We even did some cooking of meat at the US Champs concession stand and I don't think there were any fatalities.
