Discussion: WRE at the Pig (chicks wanted)

Since race-specific discussions may not reach the widest audience...

There are currently only three "R" women registered for the Flying Pig. The WRE event on Friday needs four in order to count in the rankings. If you know one of these "R" women, how about a helpful nudge? Canadians, too...

I will bake a cake and assist with travel logistics. Bagpipes are optional.

OCIN will not charge the late fee to any "R" woman entering. I could also be persuaded to waive, reduce, or cover registration fees.

I'm the first to say that I know next to nothing about the WRE events but I went to OCIN entry list on the website, to make sure that my daughter was entered and she is but I counted 6 females with WRE notations if I was reading it correctly.

Cristina:
In order for the event to count as a World Ranking Event there need to be four runners with an average ranking score of >=600. So far, there are only three... which would mean no points for anyone.

In the interest of having as full a complement of WRE's in North America, I will happily personally cover the entry fee of a fourth, ranked, female runner in the OCIN WRE. Mike, please add that amount to my tab if we can find a fourth runner.

It would REALLY be a shame for us to not use our full complement of WRE allocations in North America, and does not improve our image in the eyes of the IOF (who do seem to be trying to make _some_ accommodations for non-European countries). OCIN has gone to somelengths to make this a WRE - let's not disappoint by not having enough runners on the starting line!

I'm looking into it...

I'm looking into flights. Do people think I can make a 3:05pm flight out of Columbus on Sunday?

PG:
Looks like Samantha is on board. Or will be shortly. Great.

Sam, I don't think you will have a problem with a 3:05 flight out of Columbus. Since I have been driving to this meet for a number of years now and I skirt around Columbus and head south there, I just check the mileage from Cinn to Columbus and it is only 111 or about an hour and a half drive. Provided you get first starts and have no problems in the woods you should make the flight easily. We asked for early starts and mostly will be able to get you up there if you need a ride. I'll check with the rest of our group to make sure they are ok with it but I don't see a problem.

Thanks everyone for all the help! I'm very excited to get a chance to race at the WRE.

Fine with me Janet. Corrine and I are both in the WRE (it's my first one) I'm happy with anything that will make it count!

Samantha:
Thanks Janet - Turns out the return flight I wanted was taken in the minutes it took me to buy it, so I am actually not departing until 4:15pm.

Welcome aboard!

Mike, please add Samantha's entry fees to my tab.

Sam - see you in Cincinnati! You may actually be able to grab a ride to Columbus with us as well, as we're flying out mid-afternoon too...

I glad that everything worked out for you Sam! See you there!

I'd like to bump this back to the top of the discussion list for any F21 who is considering the trip to Cincinnati next weekend. We've got 4 ranked F21s entered, but stuff happens, flights get delayed and cars break down, and having 1 or 2 more would let everyone breathe a little easier. The way I read Mike's offer, above, it still applies. We will bend over backwards to make it happen.

yes, and especially any WRE "R" US or Canadian Junior, I might even be able to get some travel buck$ (or loonies, eh Kempster?) Spread the word.

By the way, updated list of entrants and updated locator maps showing Friday venue and parking are now posted.

Viktoria is a possibility too, working on it....

Looking pretty likely for Viktoria too.

Is anyone getting to Columbus Friday am who could give a ride to Samantha, who gets there at 9:30? Our WCOC group has car space, but isn't getting there until 11:10, which gets a little tight for the WRE.

I'll be in Columbus thursday night... I hadn't thought about the time crunch. If there's no one else going that early, I'll probably end up renting.

Hi everyone!
I'm coming too! I just bought my flight, i'm arriving in columbus at 9:54am on friday and on sunday I depart at 5:46 from Columbus.
I'm looking forward to seeing all of you!
Does anyone have floor space?

I am going to be getting into Dayton at 9:40 AM Friday. I will have a car, which is empty at this point aside for me. I am looking for a place to stay... perhaps in exchange for transportation?

Sam and Viktoria: I might be able to pick both of you up Friday morning. Return trip (route, timing) very uncertain at this point, though.
