Discussion: Blue Hills Traverse

I am bringing two friends from my college XC team, and I only have 1 extra compass. I don't expect them to do much navigating on their own, but I would feel much more comfortable if they each had a compass since they have never Orienteered before. Does anybody else have an extra compass they could bring to the event for one of them to borrow?

A standard part of the NEOC event kit is a box of spare compasses. I believe the rental fee is 50 cents with a deposit of the competitor's first-born, or a set of keys or license.

If they're at college, the 'first-born' requirement may be tricky (although the mind boggles); I recommend the other security deposits...
