There is a history (I can think of at least two cases) of orienteers (well, mappers) finding missing persons (or what was left of them, anyway...). So maybe you might be helpful!
I think I encountered that missing person a few days ago up at Happy Jack. They were doing fine and headed south, wanting to see some of the yucca in bloom around Marfa.
Australian orienteers found the first two (well, actually the last two, but the first two bodies to be found) victims of probably Australia's most notorious serial killer.
In st Edwards park a dead body was found couple of years after off trail activities were forbidden. Coincidence? I don’t think so.
