Registration to Raccoongaine 2021 event will open at noon on April 15. Current permit allows up to a max capacity of 60 participants to either day of Saturday or Sunday. Once those capacities are met, anyone registering will be placed on a waiting list. If between now and end of May the Covid restrictions are relaxed, and event capacity allowed to increase, then those participants on the waiting list will be moved into the active participants list. Preregistration is absolutely required; in order to comply with the imposed registration limit, we cannot allow anyone "to just show up" and expect to get in.RegistrationCovid mitigation plan
Course designed in November/December 2019.
Course vetted in January/February 2020.
Course was designed for a terrain without vegetation, originally scheduled for March 2020 (event was eventually cancelled). Having this event in early June, with foliage in full bloom, it will create some interesting and unforeseen
challenges. Haven't been or seen the control locations in full foliage conditions, so I cannot predict what to expect.
Event maps will be two sheets, size 11x18 inches, printed in color, scale 1:15000, plastic map case with ziploc 4 mil grade provided.
This year we are offering group primitive campsite tenting to participants and their family members, in a group campsite location that is 2.2 km from event start, and allows up to 60 people per night. We just ask that participants who do choose to tent camp, make a small donation to cover the expense of reserving this spot for two nights. Tent camping is allowed on either the night between Friday and Saturday, or the night between Saturday and Sunday, or both nights. Please do not bring alcoholic beverages, as they are prohibited in Pennsylvania state parks. Any violation may jeopardize the club's good standing and relationship with park management.
We apologize to any other event organizer that has events scheduled during the same weekend, and we wished there wasn't a conflict, but it was very difficult to find an available slot in the calendar that allowed us to rent the park facility and resources, and not conflict with other club events.
